The Onion

There is one drinking session I cannot forget. It was with some guys from the Cordillera we were sitting on the curbside of a subdivision just outside the campus. And we were drinking a "lapad" of rum or whiskey, I'm not sure what that was. I've forgotten some details like what we were drinking. We had the drink and we had tap water in a pitcher for chaser. And for "pulutan" we had a large white onion. It was quartered, you ate a piece, followed with a shot of the drink, and the chaser.

I could taste the onion up to two weeks afterwards.
